California Collar Co. is a small artisan run business that started with the adoption of a very special Pit Bull named Mija.
Having been neglected and poorly socialized, Mija had no idea how to cope with the outside world. She had spent her formative years living on a chain and was pretty sure she had to fight every dog she saw. It's been a long and sometimes very difficult road, but we're so proud of how far she's come.
What does this have to do with collars? Well, we wanted Mija to have something special, something to show the rest of the world just how important and loved she really is.
After much searching, we realized it can be kind of difficult to find a strong, well made collar that wasn't too plain or that didn't cater to the negative image dogs like Mija are trying to overcome. So we decided to design some ourselves and to share those designs with other dog lovers.
Our little family grew a bit with the adoption of another Pit Bull named Daisy, who was left behind at a local dog park. The pair continue to offer great inspiration for our designs, as well as lots of laughs and more than a little personal property destruction ;)
